“Humility means to live as close to the truth
as possible. It does not mean groveling or finding the worst
possible things to say about ourselves. Humility is, in fact, filled with
power to bring forth life.”
-Richard Foster

Teacher of the Year –
After we began the process for TOTY, the county asked us to hold off as they
were changing the process. Turns out
that the process did not change at the local level but each learning community
will select finalists. Our timeline to
complete our local selections is very short so we are going to do the process a
little differently. We had many
nominations with three finalists. I will
be sending out an anonymous survey where you will vote once for your favorite choice.
Our three nominees are…Erin Hoerr, Michelle Potts, and Gemma DeVita.

On Tuesday, 2/26 and Wednesday, 2/27 6th
grade teachers will be giving the creativity test. Slips will be put in
your boxes on Friday to give out Monday morning. Please note that this testing
time will be during the first 6th grade connections period.
The test will last approximately 40 minutes. All students are not
testing in the same location or on the same day, so please tell them to read
their slip carefully.
On Wednesday 2/27 there will be a small group of
students who will take a short mental ability test during 7th grade
connections. You will also receive a testing pass from Ingrid.
Please ask them to take note of the location and time of testing.
On Friday 3/1 a large group of 7th graders
will be taking the long mental ability test that takes about 2 hours.
This will begin at the conclusion of PRIDE, so students should report at that
time. This testing, which typically takes place in the media center, will
be in Maria Purwin’s room.
Verification Forms -You
may run your process beginning today, Monday, February 25th "After each
period" or beginning at the end of the day today
Dates for processing are: 1/25/2013 - 2/25/2013

The Verification Form is due back to Debra by
Wednesday, February 27th
PRIDE – This Friday, March 1st will be silent
reading during PRIDE. The following week, March 8th
we will return to advisement with another student choice lesson. This
will be like last week’s lesson where you and your students choose the topic
you want to discuss. The folders will be placed in the mailroom again
late in the week so you can pick up your lesson for March 8th.
The 7th & 8th grade Bands will be
attending the GMEA LGPE(Large Group Performance Evaluation) on Thursday, March
21st at Douglas High School. These students will be gone for
most of the day. Rosters and specific times will be sent a little later
but wanted to give everyone a heads up on the date.
Kenny Ludlow says…Hard work, passion, and love are words
that come to mind when I imagine Robyn Magnussen sitting in her office punching away at
the computer while the room is full of students who are working to catch-up on
their classes. It’s the words I think of when I see Robyn sitting with
these kids in the rotunda during their lunch times and it’s the words I think
of when I hear her talk to them about their potential. It’s the personal
relationships she takes the time and energy to build with her group that allows
her to administer “tough love” and still be loved and respected by those
students. Each day Robyn steps up to the plate with her kids not knowing
if she’s going to hit a homerun or strike out. I appreciate her and
thank her by presenting her with a little one on one time with
Livingston.
