Where is Livingston?

Donna McNaughton says,  “I am passing Livingston on to Matt McNamara. Matt is always willing to stop what he’s doing to help you with computer questions, math worksheets or share a story concerning one of our students. His cheerful attitude and sense of humor creates an enjoyable work environment!  Matt’s patience and bonding with his students creates a wonderful learning atmosphere!  Thank you Matt for being a part of what makes Autrey Mill Middle school so outstanding!”

Congratulations: The cast and the crew of Fiddler on the Roof did an outstanding job with their performances this weekend. Thanks to Cristy, Amy, Wendy, Tim, Michelle and many others for making this happen. As a special send off to Cristy, the leads from every show she has produced at AMMS performed and presented a rose to her at the end of Saturday’s show!! It was an awesome way to say thank you!!

Where is Livingston?

Marion Edmonds says, “I am passing Livingston on to Donna McNaughton. When the 8th grade math SEC teacher left without notice in the middle of the year Donna stepped in as the long term substitute. Donna has worked tirelessly with some of our school’s most challenging students. She is one of the first to come in the mornings and one of the last to leave in the evenings. In the mornings Donna can be found offering extra help to her 8th grade math students. After school Donna spends long hours grading papers, collecting data and most importantly figuring out how to break down the 8th grade standards in a way so that her students will be able to make sense of them. Donna has embraced the SEC math job with passion, energy and commitment. She is dedicated to doing the best job she can to help her students understand math and be successful in math. Donna’s love for the students is evident. She cares deeply about each and every student she teaches. Donna has jumped right in and accepted not only the job of teaching SEC students but also much of the responsibility for the paperwork and data collection that is part of the SEC world.  We are so lucky to have Donna McNaughton at AMMS. It is a privilege and an honor to work with her.

Happy Birthday

HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!!!!!

I am sure you have all seen that the county intends to give all employees a three percent raise.  I hope you realize how significant this is in these economic times.  Counties around us are still having furlough days or facing massive cuts.  A classmate of mine works for a system that is going to 161 days with 12 furloughs.  We need to be thankful and appreciative that we work for a county that is able to provide a raise and who has worked hard to get its financial house in order.

PRIDE - This Friday, May 10th is our last PRIDE meeting of the year.  We will be doing a Reflection lesson and PRIDE Evaluation for students and teachers.  The lesson will provide some talking points for discussions and an opportunity for students to see how well they know their classmates.  Please return all student evaluations to your grade level PRIDE liaison at the conclusion of PRIDE.  Return all of your teacher evaluations to Fran Meredith by the end of the day on Friday.  Thanks for helping to make this a great year with PRIDE!

Seventh grade awards - If anyone has awards for 7th graders to please email Lizzie Haber or Sarah Buck with the name of the student and the award. They can place the awards/ certificates in Buck’s door or my box.

Where is Livingston?

Amy Pate says, “I am passing Livingston on to a colleague who sacrifices her time and works endlessly to insure that struggling students reach their potential. Second semester the SEC department underwent some major changes which left them shorthanded. This teacher jumped right in to help make sure that our students were provided the support they needed during this transitional time. This is just one example of this teacher’s giving nature.

Many of us also benefit from her support and sharing of ideas. Her creative ideas and willingness to share them makes her one of Autrey Mill’s “go to” teachers. It’s no wonder that her car is often one of the last to leave the parking lot.

Nothing is more rewarding for this teacher than seeing her students “get it”! As a fellow math teacher, I respect and appreciate ALL that Marian Edmonds has done for our school!”
